Dave Doozan is a retired educator and lifelong student of Scripture whose writing reflects his deep interest in biblical people and their everyday lives. After earning degrees in elementary education and school administration, he served as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent before turning his attention to storytelling.
His faith shaped his life since college, where he accepted Christ and began participating regularly in Bible study groups.
Now living in The Villages, Florida, Dave writes biblical historical fiction blending scriptural inspiration with thoughtful imagination. He is especially drawn to figures whose personal experiences receive limited attention in Scripture, exploring their relationships, choices, responsibilities, questions, and spiritual growth while respecting the distinction between faith and fiction.
Dave’s stories begin with a question: what might life have felt like for the people we know from Scripture? Drawing from biblical accounts, Christian tradition, and historical context, he imagines conversations, relationships, doubts, responsibilities, and moments of faith that bring these figures closer to readers.
Faith remains at the heart of every narrative, but the characters are also presented as people facing family tensions, difficult choices, grief, responsibility, and uncertainty. This approach lets readers consider familiar biblical events from a human perspective while recognizing what comes from Scripture and what is imaginative storytelling.
From Joseph’s devotion to Mary and Jesus to James’s regret, transformation, and leadership, Dave explores how faith can shape relationships and life-changing decisions. His stories invite readers to think about courage, forgiveness, obedience, compassion, and spiritual growth while engaging with biblical history in a reflective, personal way.
Told through James’s reflections, this novel follows the brother who once struggled to understand Jesus and later became a devoted believer and church leader. Through regret, resurrection, faith, and responsibility, James looks back on his family, transformation, and the message he ultimately gave his life to proclaim.
Dave Doozan brings biblical figures to life with warmth and humanity. Joseph’s struggles, faith, and devotion made familiar Scripture feel personal and deeply moving throughout.
